January 20

Good evening from Kikuyu. Doug and I visited the PCEA Hospital in Tumutumu which is on the west side of Mount Kenya. The area is mountainous and green. Tea fields climb the slopes.

This is the first time Wilson Rehab has visited this hospital in person, but it did help them purchase a C-Arm x-ray machine last year. They mentioned many times how much they appreciate the support from Wilson Rehab. We were able to visit with the chief medical officer, the CEO, the Chaplain and the director of the nursing school. It is always humbling and scary to hear their “wish list”. Also had a tour of the hospital grounds and buildings. At the dialysis unit there was a hold on 10 patients because they had no running water due to drought. They were waiting for a delivery tanker to fill their tanks. They were having a free orthopedic clinic today that they had advertised with 600 people that came. The photo shows people sitting outside in one of three areas waiting their turn. (The sun was very Hot)!!

Being a mission hospital we are always interested to hear about how they keep Christ in their daily routine. They were very excited to tell us about their chapel every day, Evangelism to the patients and employees and even their Chaplain who visits with the families at the funeral home located on site. The chapel was built in 1914 and is still in use.

Thank you for your support of Wilson Rehabilitation Foundation. We are so fortunate to actually see how it impacts so many here in Kenya.
